In a devastated world, Japan"s sole remaining refuge is the heavily defended metropolis of Tokyo‑3. Fourteen‑year‑old Shinji Ikari is escorted to NERV"s subterranean command center, run by his distant father, Gendou. The commander urges Shinji to become the pilot of an Evangelion, a gigantic biomechanical fighter designed to confront the monstrous alien beings called Angels that ravage Earth and endanger humanity"s last hope.
Shinji, though hesitant at first, is persuaded by the chance to mend his relationship with Gendou and consents to join the perilous struggle against the extraterrestrial menace as pilot of Unit‑01. Plunged into a deadly conflict, he must summon the bravery and determination needed to repel the Angels before it is too late.
