Sally, the kind yet mischievous princess of the Land of Magic, has grown curious about the human world. Determined to experience it herself, she flees and meets two girls her age—Yoshiko "Yocchan" Hanamura and Sumire Kasugano—in a department store. They quickly become friends, spending time at Sally"s mansion that she created with magic.
The girls realize they left something behind in the shop, and even though it has closed for the night, they return to get it. Sally and her younger brother Cub—sent by their parents to retrieve her—follow them and discover the girls have been captured by two thieves who were trying to rob the store. Using their magic, Sally and Cub drive the thieves away and rescue the girls, who remain unaware of her powers.
Attached to her new friends and the excitement of the human world, Sally decides to stay, taking the surname Yumeno and attending school with Yocchan and Sumire. Cub chooses to live with her, and together they make many new friends and go on various adventures, all while adding magic to their lives.
