Former star sprinter of Sendai Women"s High School, Kakeru Kurahara is forced to leave a convenience store after being caught shop‑lifting. After evading his pursuer, he runs into Haiji Kiyose, another university student. Impressed by Kakeru"s speed, Haiji invites him to stay at Chikusei‑sou, a rundown apartment shared with eight other students. Having lost his entire deposit at a mahjong parlor, Kakeru reluctantly accepts.
During the welcome party, Haiji reveals a secret: the building is actually the dorm of Kansei University"s Track Club. He discloses his ultimate goal of competing in the Hakone Ekiden, one of Japan"s most prestigious university relay races. Unfortunately, all other residents except Haiji and Kakeru are complete running novices, and none of them care about Haiji"s grand plan. With only months left before the deadline, can the senior student persuade them and make his dream of running in the Hakone Ekiden a reality?
