When a child goes to school, he imagines that he is beginning the discovery of a new world from a clean slate, where everything largely depends on him, his aspirations, his skills, and the desire of like‑minded people to work as a team. And here there are already three like-minded companions: Otomi"s sister (though she is a year younger and will only start attending their school next year) and the second‑grade brothers Tom and Soichiro Tachibana. It is up to them to realize that in reality things are not as simple and fair as they had imagined. The brothers, who hold out hope for athletic careers, have a cherished dream: to give a new push to the school baseball team, which is currently going through far from ideal times, and help it return, after many years of defeats, to the pedestal of honor in prestigious tournaments in the city of Kosien. But so far the trio only encounters countless obstacles and misunderstandings. There is harsh school bullying from upperclassmen, stubborn authoritarianism of the teaching staff, and the team itself is not in a winning mood. And there are also ubiquitous endless intrigues.
