The action of the anime takes place in an alternate reality where the British Empire, with the help of military robots Nightmare Frame, has taken over the Third World. Japan, once a great country, is called "Zone 11," and the Japanese themselves are insultingly referred to as the Eleven. Our main character is Lelouch Lamperouge, an exiled heir of the British Emperor, banished for disobedience to Zone 11, where he studies with his younger sister at a special school for aristocrats. Lelouch possesses extraordinary intellect, but he could not imagine applying his abilities in the ordinary life of a student dormitory. However, in his heart lives a promise to avenge Britain for the death of his mother, yet he has no idea how to realize it within the existing reality. Until one day fate places him between two fires of a military conflict. On one side, soldiers of the British Empire; on the other, terrorists from Zone 11. There he meets a mysterious girl S.S., who gives him a gift called Geass—a power that allows him to command any person and make them obey any order. This gift will fundamentally change not only Lelouch"s life but the life of the entire world.
