During the 21st century, humanity tried to establish a presence on Mars by sending two species capable of withstanding the planet"s harsh conditions—algae and cockroaches—to initiate terraforming. They did not anticipate the extraordinary adaptability of these organisms. In the 26th century, Earth is struck by a lethal disease called the Alien Engine Virus, and scientists suspect that its cure can only be found on Mars. However, the Red Planet is now overrun by "Terraformars," powerful and intelligent humanoid cockroaches that evolved from the original colonists.
The Annex I team, made up of a hundred genetically enhanced men and women who carry traits from Earth"s most formidable creatures, has been dispatched to Mars on a mission to uncover the source of the Alien Engine Virus and help cure humanity for its future—signaling the beginning of their fight for survival.
