Haruyuki Arita is a middle‑school student who struggles with weight and bullying, finding comfort in online gaming. One day, his routine is shattered when he discovers that Kuroyukihime, the popular vice‑president of the student council, has surpassed all his high scores. She invites him to the lounge and reveals "Brain Burst," a system that speeds up brain waves until time appears frozen. Brain Burst doubles as an AR combat game; to earn more acceleration points, players must defeat opponents in duels. Each duel tests strategy and reflexes, pushing players to their limits. Losing all points means permanent loss of access to Brain Burst. Once eliminated, a player must restart from level one to regain any progress. Kuroyukihime explains that she showed Haruyuki the program because she needs his assistance. Her motive is personal; she suspects the system hides a deeper secret. She seeks to meet the creator of Brain Burst and learn why it was made; to do so, she must conquer the "Six Kings of Pure Color," elite faction leaders in the game, and reach level ten, the maximum. The Six Kings guard the final gate, each representing a distinct color realm. After she helps Haruyuki stand up to his tormentors, he pledges to assist her in achieving her ambition, and the pair begin their climb toward the summit. Together, they navigate school corridors and virtual arenas, forging an unlikely partnership.
