Kazuma Hoshino is preparing for the next phase of his teenage years. Because his brother Ayumu has a weaker than usual constitution, their parents decided it would be best to leave the city and move to a more rural setting. The two brothers arrive at the Yorozuyo Inn, where they will stay while their parents finish arrangements in the city and set up a new home.
Their arrival at the inn does not go as planned: they catch the wrong bus, end up in a remote spot, Ayumu"s hat is stolen by a mischievous monkey, and Kazuma gets lost in the woods chasing the animal. The search leads him to a spirited girl named Ui, whom he accidentally bumps into and kisses while she is guiding him back to the bus stop. Ui"s friend Ibuki, not amused, quickly kicks Kazuma away. To Kazuma"s horror, misfortune follows him at the inn; landlady Senka"s off‑beat humor and a series of odd events make life difficult, including discovering that two of his classmates are the girls he embarrassed in the forest.
Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi follows Kazuma"s adaptation to his new school, the multiple women who enter his life, the emotional support he gives to his younger brother, and his struggle with living under Senka"s roof. Yet something about the place seems to stir memories in him—brief flashes of a more innocent era and a friendship long lost. What could this sense of déjà vu be hinting at?
