Years later, Rusian joins a guild with three other adventurers; one of them sports a female avatar named Ako. Ako is utterly enamored with Rusian and longs to wed him. Though he considers the chance she might actually be male, Rusian accepts her engagement, insisting that gender is irrelevant as long as the character remains charming in‑game. Yet after a guild debate prompted an offline gathering, Rusian discovers that Ako and the others are not merely players but his former classmates. Their reunion forces Rusian to confront his lingering doubts about online identities and the trust he places in others.
