Mako, a youthful siren and heir to the Sea King, rescues the young sailor Akira from a wrecked vessel on a stormy day, only to fall in love with him. With aid from the Sea Witch, she is turned into a human and enrolls as a high‑school student, using her fierce love, sense of justice, and the enchanted necklace known as the "Tear of the Mermaid" to help everyone.
