Seventeen‑year‑old Akihisa Yoshi, a plain boy to the point of vulgarity, is called "fool" by those around him behind his back. He studies at Fumizuki Academy, where the principle "everyone gets what they deserve" has been taken to its logical conclusion. Everyone"s fate is decided by test results; in the end, geniuses and prodigies from Class A enjoy the wonders of comfort and technology, while losers and slouches from Class F sit in a classroom with broken windows and pre‑war rural school equipment. One day, however, the smart and beautiful Midzuki Himedi could not finish her exam due to a cold and fell to the school"s "bottom." Akihisa, her longtime admirer, could not stand the injustice and rallied his native Class F to a decisive struggle for dominance in the academy. The most interesting thing is that at Fumizuki, "school wars" are allowed and even encouraged, because they are led not by the students themselves but by miniature avatars summoned by them, whose power is again measured by the owner"s test results. Anyone can fight; the winner goes up, the defeated slides down the hierarchical ladder. And it doesn"t matter that Akihisa"s and his friends" avatars are currently quite weak— a noble cause, friendship, and teamwork will help them break through the ranks of lone top students.
