Somewhere in a parallel world, in 1939, on Earth appeared the Nevroi – soulless flying machines capable only of sowing death and destruction. The countries of the two blocs, previously on the brink of a world war, urgently united to counter this unknown aggressor. And what? Any conventional weapon of the mid‑20th century is useless against the aliens – fleets of aircraft, naval forces, ground armies simply vanish into oblivion. Only a combination of science and magic can defeat the Nevroi – a miracle weapon resembling a hybrid of twin witch"s boot and combat aircraft. Only young girls endowed with magical powers can wield it, and they all converge from around the world to Earth"s last stronghold – a rocky island in the English Channel. By the way, the weapon requires close contact with the body, so the standard uniform of the "Storm Witches" squad consists of a jacket and…underwear! The anime depicts the harsh everyday life of the "witches" squad fighting alien Nevroi, the difficult relationships within a female team, where in the early episodes a newcomer joins – 14‑year‑old Yosika Miyafudji from the island empire of Fuso. Pacifist Yosika, whose primary gift is healing, gradually realizes that no one can stand aside from the battle. Interestingly, the nationality, character and abilities of each of the 11 "Storm Witches" heroines are based on real prototypes – the best air aces of World War II.
