In antiquity, during the early ages, certain witches wed their familiars who had assumed human guise, birthing a line of ogres. One such creature is Morihito Otogi; though he looks human, he still bears the monstrous vigor of his ancestry that echoes through generations. Nico Wakatsuki, a youthful witch and Morihito's companion since childhood in the bustling town of Arash, was compelled to journey to the Witches' Sacred Realm for training, leaving Morihito behind in the distant hills.
Years afterward, just before Morihito enters his first high‑school year, Nico returns home with a single aim: to enlist him as her familiar. While most witches pick a cat or bat, Nico"s heart is fixed on Morihito for more than one reason. Though he seems unaware of her true affection, they eventually share a dwelling under the same roof while both of Morihito"s parents live elsewhere. Initially hesitant, Morihito embraces his new duty, resolved to help Nico blend smoothly into human society and shield her from destined peril.
