Koyomi Araragi devoted his final high‑school year to aiding the girls of his hometown in overcoming various supernatural ailments. Yet when Araragi leaves for college, he abandons his companions to confront fresh troubles and curses that beset them. Yotsugi Ononoki, formerly a human corpse now animated as a doll, moves into Araragi"s house and watches over his sister Tsukihi, who keeps a mystical secret of her own. In taking Araragi"s place as the town"s occult specialist, Yotsugi assists anyone who needs help.
Among those she helps is middle‑schooler Nadeko Sengoku, who is slowly healing from her recent encounters with the paranormal. She refuses to return to school, preferring instead to stay in her room and chase her ambition of becoming a professional manga artist. To accelerate Nadeko"s progress, Yotsugi persuades her to summon four duplicates of herself, each embodying a different facet of Nadeko"s personality. The clones, however, refuse to aid her; instead they flee into the town and sow chaos. Now confronted with a fractured sense of self, Nadeko must capture her copies and reconcile the internal conflict that plagues her.
