The tale unfolds in Qingyang, illustrating internal feuds among northern tribes and the discord between Qingyang and the Eastern Realm. When young, crown prince Lü Guichen was dispatched to reside with the Yanzhen Tribe by the Sovereign. Following the tribe"s revolt, he was returned to Beidu city. Yet his elder brothers dismissed the fragile prince, concentrating instead on vying for succession.
