College sophomore Yuuhi Amamiya's dull routine is shattered when Sir Noi Crezant, a chattering lizard who claims to be a knight of justice, arrives. Crezant explains that the planet faces danger from mage Animus, who plans to destroy it with his Biscuit Hammer—an immense construct orbiting Earth. As the newly sworn Lizard Knight, Yuuhi must join other Beast Knights to defend the princess and avert global ruin.
Unmoved by the idea of risking his life, Yuuhi keeps on with his ordinary day—until a golem forged by Animus suddenly attacks him. Yuuhi is quickly overwhelmed, but his neighbor, Princess Samidare Asahina, miraculously saves him. To Yuuhi's astonishment, Samidare"s goal sharply contrasts with Crezant"s; she intends to bring about the world"s destruction herself. Drawn by her unwavering resolve, Yuuhi vows to grow stronger and assist Samidare in achieving her aim.
As the duo continues battling Animus"s golems, Yuuhi slowly begins to find excitement in existence—yet the shackles of his former trauma may still hinder his progress, and the weight of his memories weighs heavily upon him, testing each step in the face of danger.
