High schooler Reki Kyan devotes himself to a single passion: skateboarding. At dusk, he ventures to 'S,' an illicit underground contest beneath a mine where skaters battle in perilous conditions. After a defeat that wrecks his board and fractures his arm, Reki can no longer train. During work, he encounters a new peer, Langa Hasegawa—a half-Canadian, half-Japanese lad with zero skateboarding skills. Langa urgently needs cash. When both head to 'S' on orders from Reki's supervisor, they land in trouble and must accept a wager that forces Langa to race. Yet the enigmatic transfer student possesses an unseen advantage that Reki does not know, potentially turning the outcome in a surprising fashion. Despite the risk, Langa's determination fuels his resolve, and Reki secretly hopes that this unexpected ally will restore his confidence on the board for good.
