Yuuta Hoshitani signs up at the renowned Ayanagi Academy, hoping to locate the high‑school peer who once inspired him. The school is famed for shaping outstanding musicians, yet admission into the Music Department demands a fierce contest among applicants. At its apex sits the Kao Council—a cadre of third‑year scholars wielding significant sway over both the institution and entry into the department. For Hoshitani, the quickest path is to secure a spot on a Star Team, granting him instruction from a Kao Council member. Its halls echo with the melodies of past champions, and every corner seems to whisper promises of greatness to those who dare dream.
After capturing the attention of Itsuki Ootori, Hoshitani falls under the guidance of the Council"s most unconventional member. On Team Ootori he joins his roommate Tooru Nayuki, novice Kabuki performer Kakeru Tengenji, the reserved Shuu Kuga, and Kaito Tsukigami, sibling of celebrated Ayanagi alumnus Haruto.
While Hoshitani grapples with his perceived lack of skill, the squad must also confront their own flaws. Confronting rival Star Teams—including the other four Council members—Team Ootori must forge a distinct route as they strive to showcase their talent at the Ayanagi Festival.
