Vampires have lingered for ages, governed by the Scarlet Moon. Each year a spectacle called "Visual Prison" erupts—a visual kei contest where the most enchanting vampire song earns immense power from the Scarlet Moon. The arena is dominated by ECLIPSE, the current champions upholding tradition, and LOST EDEN, a faction insisting that might should dictate destiny. The city pulses with neon lights, and underground clubs reverberate with otherworldly riffs. Ange's pulse quickens as he observes rival ensembles, each vying for the moonlit crown.
Ange Yuki is a solitary youth who doubts his vocal talent. He relocates to Harajuku chasing a revered performer, yet he becomes embroiled in one of the fierce live battles between ECLIPSE and LOST EDEN. Their dazzling displays mesmerize him, but he soon succumbs to a ravenous urge. When he awakens, Ange is tended by Guiltia "Guil" Brion, the idol he admires, who reveals that he is a dhampir—part human, part vampire.
Now granted entry to the forthcoming Visual Prison, Ange learns from Guil that the veteran will not accompany him. At the same time, he meets Robin Laffite, an English visitor captivated by his extraordinary voice. With the contest date drawing near, Ange must assemble a formidable team before time runs out. He must rally allies swiftly and decisively.
