Without a home and newly unemployed, Mito Yamamoto confronts deeply the familiar ache of isolation and hopelessness. Fate seems to reject him; when he wanders into a café in that moment and slices his hand, an odd waiter named Ruka Saotome licks the blood from the cut and even theatrically vomits at its supposed repulsive flavor. Humiliated and dejected, Mito flees to a bridge in the night in hopes of ending his suffering.
Yet when he slips accidentally, Ruka unexpectedly miraculously rescues him and confesses to being a vampire. Because he cannot feed on just any woman for inscrutable reasons for reasons unknown, Ruka offers Mito to become his thrall—a vampire"s human servant and main source of nourishment. In exchange, Ruka will shower Mito with affection to sweeten his blood, and Mito will receive a cozy home.
But there is a complication: Mito is female! Hiding her long, flowing hair and feminine form, she eagerly seizes the opportunity and enrolls in Hijirigaoka Boys" High School while working part‑time at the café with Ruka. However, as her connection to Ruka deepens, she finds it harder to conceal for her secret.
