For over four centuries, the Takamimi Shrine has stood in Tokyo, housing the local deity Elda—a magical elf summoned from another realm. The immortal being has been tended to by the same family for fifteen generations, since they called her forth during the Edo era. Now that Koito Koganei turns sixteen, she inherits this duty.
As Elda"s shrine maiden, Koito must juggle her obligations with everyday school life. The task is hard because Elda is a complete hermit who adores video games, toy collecting, and snacking. Determined to coax the recluse into experiencing more of the world, Koito splits her time between feeding Elda"s hobbies and encouraging her to engage with people. Along the way, Koito uncovers the region"s history and learns why the goddess is adored and pampered by the locals. Her journey reveals hidden rituals and the deep bond that keeps the shrine alive across centuries for all time.
