During a drizzly afternoon, a male high‑schooler awakes on the pavement shivering, with no recollection of how he arrived. His classmate and secret admirer, Karen Inukai, spots him and brings him to her apartment; there she unexpectedly begins to undress. She appears determined to bathe together, though he cannot fathom why. When she embraces him again, he glimpses his reflection in the glass—only to realize he has become a dog! Inukai takes the canine into her care and christens him Pochita. Now he must learn to live as a dog while seeking a way out of this bizarre situation. Yet, as he contemplates an escape, Pochita discovers a side of Inukai that was invisible to him at school and the bond between them deepens in unforeseen ways as they grow.
