The tale opens roughly a century after Otome Yamabuki vanished, Rihan Nura's first spouse. He has finally steadied himself and life resumes its rhythm. As the leader of the Nura Clan, he devotes his efforts to forging a peaceful coexistence between humans and youkai. One day he notices Setsura distressed, so he decides to lift her spirits by taking the clan to a hot spring.
