Following the events of Satsujin Kousatsu (Zen), Shiki Ryougi has spent two years in a coma after a traffic collision. When she finally awakens, she remembers nothing of her former life and is consumed by solitude. She notices filaments that trace around everything; touching them causes objects to disintegrate—a terrifying phenomenon. Her friend, Mikiya Kokutou, enlists the aid of Touko Aozaki, a mage who can help Shiki grasp what her 'Mystic Eyes of Death Perception' allow and how to employ them safely. She fears that using them could harm others, and her mind wrestles with the moral weight of this power.
