Seventeen-year-old Sayako Amanokawa dreams of becoming a reporter, following in the footsteps of Kanemoto, a top-tier newspaper author she idolizes. Yet Kanemoto, disgraced by a mistaken corruption exposé, ends his life by leaping onto a passing train. After that tragedy, Sayako unexpectedly gains the ability to perceive spirits and narrowly escapes death herself. From that close encounter she senses something remarkable. The journalist within her awakens, prompting her to pursue the hidden facts. However, the obstacles she faces prove far more daunting than she had ever imagined in the shadows of a city that never sleeps.
