By chance, a plant‑eating dinosaur stumbles upon a misplaced egg and carries it back to her clutch. When the shell cracks, a meat‑eating hatchling appears. Though she cannot abandon him, she names the young one "Heart" and raises him with her own offspring in exile. Heart grows, discovers he cannot share his family"s diet and flees in shame when he learns meat is essential.
Years later, the feared predator Heart encounters a scene that mirrors his youth—he spots an egg of another species across the plain. When it breaks, Heart remarks that the infant looks appetizing. The herbivore assumes Heart is his parent and adopts the name "Umasou" (meaning delicious). Unable to consume a beloved newborn, Heart reluctantly takes Umasou under his wing. Raising this forbidden child as his own, Heart wrestles with a harsh world and the inherent roles of hunter and hunted.
