Partly inspired by the true origins of Gainax, Otaku no Video explores every facet of otaku culture. Takeshi Kubo is a young adult leading an ordinary existence until he is pulled into a circle of otaku. Gradually, he starts to resemble them more and finally chooses to forsake his previous life in order to rule as the supreme otaku—the otaking! Interspersed are on‑camera interviews with genuine otaku, covering all elements of intense otaku living. Fans of anime and manga are included, as well as sci‑fi enthusiasts, military hobbyists, and other Japanese geek communities, and lovers.
