After losing the Sword of Light in their last clash, Lina and Gourry press onward to find a new weapon. While traveling they encounter Amelia and Zelgadis in the kingdom of Luvinagard, where they mock a group of pirates. Lina is delighted to reunite with her old friends, but an unexpected presence emerges: Wizer, the inspector of Luvinagard"s Special Investigative Unit. Lina is stunned by his odd demeanor, which surprises her more than the pirates did.
