The village of the Emishi people is lost somewhere in the mountains of medieval Japan. One day a giant boar named Nago, possessed by hatred that turned him into a demon, attacks the village. To save the village, the chief"s son Asitaka must kill the cursed beast, but the animal wounds him in the hand and with the wound he receives the curse. And now, according to tribal traditions, he must be exiled so that in exile he may find a path to healing or perish. While traveling in the outside world, Asitaka becomes a witness and unwilling participant in the confrontation between the people of Iron City led by Lady Eboshi and the beasts of the Ancient Forest, guided by the Spirit of the Forest with the gods Moro and Okotononusi. The forest side also includes Moro"s adopted daughter, a human girl named San. The forest inhabitants are enraged by the people"s behavior and will no longer tolerate desecrations of their home. Asitaka discovers that with the curse he has gained superhuman physical strength and endurance. And now a difficult choice lies before him: which side will he take? The people? The forest? Or perhaps he can resolve this conflict peacefully without bloodshed?
