Edward Elric, a youthful and gifted alchemist, has endured great loss in his twelve-year existence: when he and his brother Alphonse attempt to bring their deceased mother back through the forbidden practice of human transmutation, Edward sacrifices his brother and two limbs. Using his exceptional alchemical prowess, he seals Alphonse's spirit within a massive suit of armor.
A year later, Edward—now elevated to the rank of state fullmetal alchemist—sets off with his younger sibling to seek the Philosopher"s Stone. This legendary relic is said to magnify an alchemist's power dramatically, enabling them to bypass the core axiom of alchemy: to obtain something, one must relinquish an equal counterpart. Edward intends to leverage military aid to locate the stone and restore both his and Alphonse"s bodies.
