Following the fall of Bilusaludo's nanometal metropolis, humanity's annihilation appears unavoidable. Even more troubling, Captain Haruo Sakaki's decision to preserve his humanity has been castigated by the remaining Bilusaludo soldiers, who hold him responsible for their loss. In their bleakest hour, the scant survivors embrace the faith of Exifs, which assures that piety leads to deliverance from Godzilla as the city crumbles, hope flickers like a star.
Yet the Exif are deceptive. Their rituals grow elaborate, binding their souls to a force. As the followers become fervent, Sakaki questions what the priest Metphies is concealing—particularly concerning his ties to beast dubbed Ghidorah.
