Shinichirou Asano"s life is a series of bad luck. His parents abandoned him and fled to Europe, leaving almost nothing for his upkeep. He works part‑time at a convenience store, but the wages barely cover his living expenses. With no savings, he must find work to pay rent and keep a roof over his head. He was recently dismissed from his last job, and as a high‑school student he has few other options.
One night while walking home, a centipede‑like monster attacks him. He is rescued by a mysterious girl with a bow and arrow, later revealed to be Sakuya Shimazu, a striking student from his school. When he assists another wounded girl, two revelations surface: the victim is not human but a nekomata—an ancient two‑tailed demon cat—and Sakuya hails from a lineage of exorcists who have defended humanity against rogue spirits for centuries. Because Shinichirou inadvertently released the nekomata, Sakuya asks him to help capture it. This marks only the beginning of their bond.
The Shimazu household has long guarded against supernatural threats, and their reputation precedes them. The family needs a housekeeper, and Shinichirou happens to be an excellent cook who enjoys cleaning. He feels a strange mix of fear and responsibility as he steps into this role. It may not be his dream occupation, but it pays the rent and provides meals.
