Blue World, symbolizing "intellect," is constantly under attack by creatures called O"Note moths. Their homeland, Red World, symbolizes "instinct." To counter the invasion from Red World, a defensive organization called LAG was created on the island of Ryukyu. A special combat unit, Scared Rider, was also formed, but it has been completely destroyed five times in battle; now the sixth formation is active, named Scared Rider Xechs. Members of the combat unit can resonate with beings from Red World, thereby gaining powers for battle.
