Members of the Mage's Association, Rin Toosaka and Luviagelita 'Luvia' Edelfelt, are charged with locating and reclaiming seven Class Cards—ancient relics that hold the life force of famed Heroic Spirits across the kingdom. To support their quest, they receive the abilities of Ruby and Sapphire, two conscious Kaleidosticks that allow them to become magical girls and significantly boost their powers and protect them from danger. Yet the pair of mages are in conflict, causing the Kaleidosticks to leave them and seek new wielders. They encounter two teenage students—Illyasviel von Einzbern and Miyu—and swiftly persuade them to forge a pact. Armed with fresh powers and duties, Illya and Miyu embark on a mission to gather every Class Card.
