At first sight, Ibara Naruse and her companions Aoi Fukasaku and Taeko Nomura appear to be ordinary, carefree high‑schoolers. Yet the streets they tread, their destinations, and the environment around them are anything but ordinary. As they press on, the trio finds themselves delving deeper into a Tokyo rendered uninhabitable by a nuclear catastrophe two decades earlier.
As members of the Dispatch 3rd Special Force Coppelion, dubbed the Health Care squad, Ibara, Aoi and Taeko receive support from the Japanese Ground Self‑Defense Force (JGSDF) and Colonel Onihei Mishima while they scour the eerily quiet avenues for survivors. Locating the last remaining humans and evacuating them with JGSDF helicopters becomes a daily routine task for the girls. Yet, as their mission continues, Ibara and her friends begin to question their own humanity—specifically how they manage to endure in Tokyo without protective gear.
