Following a standard raid, the novice sky pirate Coud discovers an extraordinary item in his crew's hold: Ren, an 'Edel Reid', a species coveted by humans for bestowing unique combat abilities on their allies through 'Reacting'. He soon realizes that Ren is even more valuable than he imagined, potentially a game-changer. Three agents from the Edel Reid Complete Protection Agency, known as 'Arc Aire', board the vessel to buy her. When Coud declines, a shadowy assault strikes the ship, and his captain orders him to guard Ren at all costs without delay.
