Orphan Himari Momochi"s sole connection to her deceased parents is the house they secretly left her, a fact she discovers only on her 16th birthday. Eager to learn more about her lineage, Himari ventures into the rumored haunted residence and is surprised to find three young men already residing there: Aoi Nanamori, who claims himself as the caretaker of the place, and his two attendants, Yukari and Ise. Though they permit her to spend a night, they caution her to depart the following day to avoid danger from ayakashi—spirits that occasionally assault humans. Unexpectedly, Himari remains unharmed by the supernatural encounters and resolves to settle in. When she learns that Aoi became guardian unintentionally and is now trapped within the estate, forgotten by the outside world, her determination only intensifies. Moved by his plight, Himari resolves to free Aoi from this bleak destiny and persuades the trio of Momochi House guardians to accept her as their new landlady. Yet, the enigmatic Kasha who continually dispatches hostile ayakashi toward Himari"s new home appears to harbor darker intentions for Aoi"s future.
