After finally shedding the compulsions of her Blessing, ex‑Hero Ruti has embraced a tranquil existence beside assassin roommate Tisse in the frontier town of Zoltan. She delights again at being near her apothecary sibling Red, the former Guide of her erstwhile Hero Party, as he enjoys his blissful life with his partner (and forthcoming fiancée) Princess Rit. Yet a fresh Hero arrives, whose rigid reading of his Blessing"s impulses threatens to unleash turmoil and sorrow upon the sleepy town of Zoltan in its quiet heart.
