Following the crash of an enigmatic spacecraft on Earth, humanity discovers it is not alone. Afraid of a possible extraterrestrial menace, nations abandon their rivalries, disputes, and cultural divides to rally under the United Nations to protect humanity from unknown threats and preserve global stability. The freshly established UN command chooses to convert the alien vessel, christening it SDF‑1 Macross. However, on its inaugural flight, a fleet of ships from the Zentradi alien race descends upon Earth; the SDF‑1 Macross, acting independently, destroys the incoming squadron, igniting a galaxy‑wide war. The ensuing conflict escalates rapidly, drawing in countless star systems and reshaping the political landscape of the cosmos. In an effort to flee, Macross attempts to reach lunar orbit, but the ship—and the city it occupied—are teleported deep into space. Amid this chaos are Hikaru Ichijou, a spirited acrobatic pilot, and Minmay Lynn, an aspiring vocalist.
