In an alternate world of science and magic somewhere in southern Japan, there still stands a wondrous city where Toma Kamidze lives—the one who saved the world but lost his memory. However, the boy could forget his deeds or a summer school assignment, but he certainly wouldn"t forget about the noisy white creature that settled in his modest apartment. Of course, Index pulls Toma back into a story featuring forbidden books, English knights, Roman Catholics, and Japanese conspirators, and we meet old acquaintances from previous seasons. Meanwhile, Toma curses his eternal misfortune; in the suburbs of Akademgorod, Christian magicians clash with local ecumenists, Misaka and Accelerator cannot sort out their own feelings, and the secretly arrived archbishop Laura from England dreams of going to a Japanese bath. New battles loom; local secret Esper alliances stir, and the Academy"s scientists—clearly unburdened by morality—anticipate new experiments. And only a fresh perspective on the series" world helps realize that the heroes" adventures are just part of a larger picture of "new creation," in which some of the Academy"s creators decided to shake the very foundations of reality!
