Classic works are distinguished by their exploration of aspects of human life that depend little on place and time. The proposed series, based on the novels and stories of four Japanese writers from the first half of the 20th century, is no exception. In each narrative arc, through various images of Eastern and Western culture, the author and readers (viewers) seek answers to fundamental questions of existence. What is the meaning of life? What makes a person human? Can one unpunishedly disregard the laws and customs of society? What is sin, and what are the limits of retribution? What is the true essence and strength of friendship? True art endures forever, and while it does not provide ready-made advice, it helps one find their own path. And all the works adapted in this mini‑series undoubtedly belong to true art.
