Shinichi Chiaki is rapidly establishing himself as the chief conductor of the reborn Roux‑Marlet Orchestra in the heart of Paris, while Megumi "Nodame" Noda has surged forward as a pianist at the Conservatoire de Paris with a dazzling reputation. Yet friction builds between them when Nodame senses she is being eclipsed by Chiaki"s rising acclaim and his intimate bond with the famed piano prodigy Rui Son. Ignoring her mentor Professor Charles Auclair"s counsel, Nodame enters another solo contest to ignite her own career today.
Meanwhile, those surrounding Chiaki and Nodame confront their own dilemmas. Rui questions herself after hearing Nodame"s performance and being denied guidance from Auclair; Maestro Franz von Stresemann confronts the reality of his own mortality; pianists Yunlong Li and Tatiana Vishneva work feverishly toward a competition, while the latter also wrestles with growing affection for oboist and classmate Yasunori Kuroki.
As Chiaki, Nodame, and their companions press onward on their distinct paths, they must not only remain authentic to themselves but also keep in mind where it all began.
