Two men have just reached a place called Quindecim and cannot recall how they arrived. They are immediately met by a young woman who leads them to a modest bar where a bartender is waiting. They are informed that they must take part in a contest chosen at random by roulette and will not be allowed to leave until it ends; refusal would bring severe repercussions. Along with the game"s rules, they are instructed to play as though their lives depend on it.
The contest selected is billiards. Yet there is more to it than merely sinking pool balls, as the men soon discover the stakes could be life or death.
