Against all odds, middle‑schooler Shion Yasuoka is rising as a star in professional shogi. After losing her family early and becoming mute from trauma, she finds emotional support in a loving adoptive home and the shogi association, enabling her to move forward with both life and a demanding career.
Her talent catches the eye of Satoru Hani, a successful businessman and brother to the current Meijin—the title given to Japan"s top shogi champion. He organizes a mixed‑gender tournament open to professionals and amateurs, urging Shion to compete. Yet Satoru seems aware of details from Shion"s painful past, arousing suspicion from her friend Ayumi Saitou and police still investigating the deaths of Shion"s loved ones.
As the tournament nears its climax, Shion remembers the night she lost everything and must summon mental fortitude to defeat her opponents and stop those who ruined her life.
