Chika Suzugamori, an 18‑year‑old debut manga illustrator, has just seen three of her submissions rejected in one day. Her editor recommends weaving personal passions into the stories, yet Chika is a homebody who devotes all her thoughts to manga day and night. Confused, she suddenly craves escape from everything and longs for a trip somewhere.
Following the outcome of an impulsive online poll she posted, Chika boards a train and departs northward from Tokyo on an unplanned solo journey. She leaves behind the bustling streets, the quiet cafés where she sketches, and the endless deadlines that have weighed on her. Reaching the summit of Mount Haguro in Aizu‑Wakamatsu, she feels rejuvenated and more inspired than before. Even if future projects face rejection again, Chika intends to travel across Japan with both old and new companions.
