In a computer class at school, Saneatsu Narita encounters an odd screen that asks a simple yes‑or‑no question and then vanishes. The next morning he awakens to find that everyone, except himself and a few others, has died.
A message from an unknown figure known only as the Emperor begins to explain the situation. The question Saneatsu saw is part of a game called Tasuuketsu. Each day the survivors will see a new question on a screen, and their answer decides who lives to face another day. Matching the majority"s choice means certain death; the last person standing earns a chance to meet the Emperor.
Saneatsu resolves to defeat the Emperor by playing his own game, using hidden envelopes that contain powers helpful to players. With a small group of friends by his side, he must avoid the plots of other contestants and win this ruthless contest.
