Novice sorceress Chise Hatori receives an invitation to join the College, a renowned academy for spellcasters, in order to investigate and seek a method to lift the afflictions she carries. Although her betrothed, Elias Ainsworth, hesitates, Chise agrees to the offer in the hope that mastering arcane arts will reduce her self‑sacrificing habits and grant peace. From the outset, Chise captivates both classmates and faculty, all of whom have never witnessed a mage perform in real life, and wonder about the unseen forces. Yet beneath the College's façade lies a dark conspiracy, and the young sorceress must discern friend from foe to thwart it quickly, deep in the shadows.
