After their trip to Okinawa, Saitama University graduate students Shinya Yukimura and Ayame Himuro were unable to collect the data needed to scientifically confirm their mutual affection. Unable to recreate the exact conditions of that journey, the two determined researchers turned to another part of campus—the Biological Sciences division.
Supported by fellow graduate students and the long‑time couple Chris Floret and Suiu Fujiwara, Yukimura and Himuro began to quantify their emotions by measuring oxytocin levels in various romantic situations. The pair soon discovered that their feelings for each other were far less intense than those of a seasoned couple. At this point Chris asked both Yukimura and Himuro: what would they do if their "affection" turned out not to be love after all?
Desperate to find a scientific explanation for the discrepancy, Yukimura risked everything to prove that their "love" was genuine.
