On November 23, 1957, the entire world watched as the Federal Republic of Zirnitra achieved a historic milestone by launching the first living creature—a dog—into outer space. Since that moment, the rivalry between Zirnitra and its rival, the United Kingdom of Arnack, has escalated; both nations aspire to send humans beyond Earth someday for future.
Because a dog's physiology differs significantly from that of humans, it is impossible to fully assess the dangers of spaceflight and its impact on an individual without actually conducting experiments. Zirnitra's authorities, however, propose a workaround: testing on vampires, whose biology closely mirrors human physiology to ensure safety and advance research for future missions and scientific understanding.
Despite being abducted from her mountain home, vampire Irina Luminesk accepts the situation without protest and even volunteers to serve as a test subject. Lev Leps, once a leading contender for the first human cosmonaut role, is assigned to accompany Irina and act as her mentor. Together, they develop a shared passion for the cosmos, drawing them closer in pursuit of knowledge and the thrill of exploration today.
