Shortly after arriving in a different realm, Kurumi Tokisaki becomes intrigued by a specific white feline. Unfortunately for her, they eventually part.
Later she encounters Hibiki Higoromo, a quasi‑spirit with white hair. Hibiki reveals that they are caught in a lethal contest among such spirits. In the Neighboring World, these beings vie for one wish granted to the sole survivor of the death match.
Once they grasp the rules, Kurumi and Hibiki forge a provisional pact to navigate the perilous stakes together.
